About the Celsius to Fahrenheit Converter
Enter a temperature in Celsius and read it in Fahrenheit as you type, with the Kelvin equivalent shown too. Temperature is the one conversion here that is not a simple ratio, because the two scales start from different zero points.
Formula
Multiply the Celsius figure by 9/5 (1.8) and add 32. Reversing it means subtracting 32 first and then multiplying by 5/9 — the order matters. The two scales cross at −40, where both read the same number.

Frequently Asked Questions
68°F. Twenty times 1.8 is 36, and 36 plus 32 is 68.
Double the Celsius figure and add 30. For 20°C that gives 70 against a true 68 — close enough for weather, though it drifts at higher temperatures.
Because the two scales put zero in different places. Fahrenheit sets water's freezing point at 32°, while Celsius sets it at 0°, so the 32 shifts the scale before the 1.8 stretches it.
At −40. It is the single point where the two scales cross, so −40°C and −40°F are the same temperature.
